Context
A content publishing feature needs an editor, validation, persistent article records, and image handling. The authoring interface also needs to communicate loading, submission, and failure states.
My contribution
I developed blog-management functionality using Next.js API routes, MongoDB, TinyMCE, and Supabase Storage.
Workflow at a glance
- Editor & image selection
- Content API
- Article & image storage
- Article retrieval
Engineering focus
Authoring experience
The React editor uses local state for form values, loading, submission, and errors. Rich-text entry and image selection are part of the authoring workflow.
Content and images
Article records are stored in MongoDB, while images use a separate storage service. The reviewed functionality includes listing, creation, individual retrieval, deletion, and thumbnail upload.
Validation and connection reuse
Required-field checks and model constraints validate content records. The database helper caches a connection and its pending promise for reuse across calls.
Tradeoffs & considerations
- Rich-text editing offers flexible authoring, while rendered content still requires deliberate validation and safe handling.
- Separate image and document storage introduces coordination between file and article operations.
- Connection reuse is a concrete implementation choice; no measured latency or resource improvement is claimed.
